Noreen A. Walton, a longtime resident of Woburn passed away October 22nd at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington following a lengthy illness. She was 62 years of age. Born in Quincy she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Eileen (Smyth) McGillicuddy.
Nicki, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends was raised and educated Wollaston and was a graduate of the St. Elizabeth Nursing School in Brighton. She worked for more than thirty years as a labor and delivery nurse at the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was passionate about her work and loved being a part of a special team of doctors and nurses. Nicki was first and foremost a devoted mother and friend. She loved to entertain and host gatherings with her family and friends. She especially loved the holidays with Christmas being her most favorite. She was a warm and caring person and a mother to all who knew her. In her leisure time she enjoyed listening to classical music and going to the theater. She was very talented with arts and crafts and loved making beautiful quilts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and vacationing in the Saco, ME area with friends and family.
Nicki is survived by her loving sons, David Michael Walton and his partner Deborah R. Morgan of Somerville, Kenneth Joseph Walton and his wife Rachel G. Grashow of Cambridge. She was the cherished sister of Kerry Blum of Richmond, VA, Paula Kerigan of Marshfield, and James McGillicuddy of Edgewood, KY. She is also survived by her loving uncle Ronald Smyth of Woburn.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Tuesday, October 26th, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 thru 8. Interment services will be private.
