Obituary

WORCESTER-Anna Z. (Zahahra) Pagonis, 85, of Worcester, died Friday, October 22nd in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She leaves her husband of 62 years James J. Pagonis; a son, James J. Pagonis, Jr. and his wife Joyce of North Tewksbury; two daughters, Mary J. wife of Ronald S. Kramek and Helen J. Pagonis-Figueroa all of Worcester; four granddaughters, Catharine M. Mysliwiec, Teresa A. Kramek, Jessica L. Pagonis and Anna M. Figueroa, and a great granddaughter Sarah O’Donnell; many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces Six sisters, Caliope Zahara, Katina Sakkis, Olympia Xionni, Aspasia Bousbouras, Maria Paraskevas and Polixeni Zahara predeceased her.

She was born in Volos, Greece the daughter of Dimitrios and Magdalini (Voulelikas) Zahara. Mrs. Pagonis was a long time member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Senior Parishioners, the Ladies Philoptochos Society, the Daughters of Penelope, the DAV Auxiliary and a long time volunteer at the Grecian Festivals held at the Cathedral.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Holy Trinity Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to our beloved mother

The funeral is Tuesday, October 26th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, October 25th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
