Obituary

Rev. Norman W. Ethridge, 68, of the Lands Crossing Community in Irwin County died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 24, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Luke Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9, Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Rev. Ethridge was born March 25, 1942 in Irwin County to the late Amon J. and Opal “Bertie” Burson Ethridge. He lived most of his life in Irwin and Ben Hill counties. Rev. Ethridge was former Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ben Hill County and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era. He was former owner/operator of Ethridge Trucking Company, a former radio announcer and D.J., a former agent for American Family Life Insurance and a former heavy equipment operator for Glen Davis Logging Company. Rev. Ethridge was a former member of the Lions Club and a member of Landmark Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Virginia Walker Ethridge of the Lands Crossing community; son and daughter-in-law: Chris & Buffy Ethridge of Fitzgerald; daughter and son-in-law: Norma & Coleman Holton of Fitzgerald; 2 grandchildren: Josh Holton and Amanda Holton and a sister: Norma June Ethridge of Thomasville.
