Czecstavia “Jessica” M. (Mayers) Kurgan, 88, of Hudson, died Wednesday, Oct. 20th at the Coleman House in Northboro. She was the wife of the late Anthony M. Kurgan who died in 1988.
She was born in Marlboro, daughter of the late Andrew and Nellie (Spooner) Mayers and has resided in Hudson the past 66 years. She was married to her husband Anthony in 1941 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Marlboro. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at the Raytheon Co. in Sudbury for many years until her retirement. She also worked for the former Sylvania Co., former Victory Plastics Co. in Hudson, and also the Hudson Welfare Dept. Mrs. Kurgan enjoyed writing poetry under the pen name, Rebecca York Phelps and had several poems published.
She is survived by her children, Anthony Kurgan Jr. and his wife Josephine of Hudson, Diane M. Golden and her husband Joseph of Hopkinton and Deanna Johnson and her husband Raymond of Reading, Vermont. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, A. Michael Kurgan and his wife Terri, Christian J. Kurgan and his wife Mary, Peter D. Kurgan, Andrew R. Golden and Jessica A. Golden and her fiancé, Jordan Weaver along with her three great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Helen McLean.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 22nd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
