Obituary

Lois Evelyn Davis King, age 76, of 2220 Seamster Road, Providence, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at her residence. She had been in serious declining health for the past ten months.

Born August 11, 1934 in Sutherlin, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Davis and Linnie Evelyn Shaw Davis. She attended Dan River High School and worked for forty three years at American National Bank and retired in 1994 as Assistant Vice President. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and served as Church Treasurer for 15 years. She was also a member of the American Business Women's Association. Her husband, William "Billy" King survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Lisa Moore and her husband James of Providence, Sandra Genevicz and her friend Andy of Reidsville; three sisters: Dorothy Hill of Danville, Virginia Dix of Richmond, Betty Jean Hendrick of Danville; one brother: Curtis Davis of Yanceyville, four grandchildren: Abby McKinney, Michelle Gibson, Joshua Duncan, Evan Watlington; one great-grandchild, Wyatt McKinney; special friend, Delma Haley; and Joan Willis, sister-in-law, James Moore, Jr., step-grandson.

She was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Hill.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. James Davis, Rev. Buddy Butner, and Rev. Cleveland Duke will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 2 P.M. at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Swicegood Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., and at other times they will be at the residence, 2220 Seamster Road, Providence, NC.
