Teresa (DeRossi) Axtell, 86. of Marion, formerly of New Bedford died January 29, 2002 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Vincent Brooks Axtell,and daughter of the late Emil and Julia (Laurenti) DeRossi.
Mrs. Axtell was born in Springfield and had lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a self-employed beautician who operated a beauty salon out of her home for over 60 years.
Mrs. Axtell was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for many years and was Past President of St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Senior Citizens.
She and her late husband founded the Who's Who Travel Club and traveled extensively throughout the world.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan A. Anderson of New Bedford; a brother, Aldo DeRossi of Fairhaven; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be private.
