Mary Ruth Evans Elliott, age 83, of 265 Mountain View Avenue, Danville, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at her residence. She had been in declining health for several years.
Born February 2, 1927 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late George W. Evans and Mary Boone Evans. She lived her entire life in Danville and was employed as a bookkeeper for American National Bank and Fleming Transfer. Mrs. Elliott was a member of West Main Baptist Church, the Wayside Garden Club, and the Wednesday Club. On December 17, 1949, she married Raymond A. Elliott, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Susan Elliott Farmer and her husband Barry of Danville, Patricia A. Elliott of Danville; one grandson, Drew Wilson and his wife Heather of Danville. She was predeceased by a brother, Col. John L. Evans and by a sister, Lorraine Simmons.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Bruce Wilson will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at two o’clock p.m. from the graveside in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 265 Mountain View Avenue, Danville.
