Dorothy L. Wood, 78, of Chester, NH, died Friday October 15, 2010, in the Derry Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Derry, NH. She was born in Malden, MA on August 28, 1932, daughter of the late William and Mildred Schacht, and had been a resident of Chester since 1978, formerly living in Wakefield, MA. Mrs. Wood graduated from Wakefield High School, Class of 1950. She worked for Wakefield Trust Company, starting as a teller and ended up working as the bank manager in 8 years. Mrs. Wood then became a full-time mom. She taught Sunday School at the Methodist Church in Wakefield. Mrs. Wood was a great cook, and was fortunate to have a "green thumb," always able to make anything grow. While living in Chester she opened up her craft store, Dot's Country Crafts. Mrs. Wood was an all around good person with a heart of gold.
She is survived by her husband; Robert J. Wood of Chester; two sons; Kevin K. Wood of Derry, Scott S. Wood of Derry, NH; a daughter; Linda Patnaude of Concord, NH; five grandchildren; Joshua, Jason, Derek, Sean and Trevor, two great grandchildren and a brother; Bob Schacht of Burlington, MA. She was predeceased by her daughter, Robin Cicerano; a sister, Lorraine and a brother, William Schacht.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services were held on Tuesday October 19, 2010 at 1:00pm in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Chester Congregational/Baptist Church, P.O.
