Obituary

WORCESTER/W. HARWICH-Geraldine “Gerry” Ann (Sullivan) O’Connor, 64 of West Harwich died peacefully Thursday, October 14 at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus after a short illness surrounded by her family and friends.

Gerry leaves her husband of 36 years, Richard O’Connor, her brother Paul Sullivan and his wife Pat of Brattleboro, VT and her brother, Robert J. Sullivan of Worcester. Her sister, Sheila E. Sullivan predeceased her in 2005. Gerry also leaves behind her two special aunts, Sr. Elizabeth Molloy and Sr. Janice Molloy, S.S.J. of Holyoke. Her nephews, Michael Sullivan of Southbridge, Craig Sullivan and his wife Christine, Mark Sullivan and his wife Diana, all of Barre, Jeffrey Sullivan and Matthew Sullivan of Worcester and her niece, Laurie (Sullivan) Ward and her husband Paul, of Carterville, GA. Gerry also leaves behind her very devoted friends, Kathy Grady, Jo Ann White, Paula Grzelecki, Mary Ellen Daley, Sue Cullen and Carol Sullivan.

Gerry was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Mary G. (Molloy) Sullivan. Gerry was raised in Worcester and was a 1963 graduate of St. Peter’s High. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Worcester State College. She taught in the Grafton School System for many years. She also taught in the Harwich School System for several years retiring in 2006

The last few years Gerry spent a great deal of time volunteering her time at Habitat for Humanity, Church Thrift Store and the local Food Pantry. Gerry was an avid reader, enjoyed relaxing at the beach, loved to go to plays and musicals in Boston and New York and traveled to several places around the world. She was a devoted aunt to her nephews and niece and a great friend to all who knew her.

The funeral will be Monday, October 18 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 23 Fales St., Worcester. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, October 17 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
