HARDIMAN THELMA LOUISE (ABELE), a 70 year resident of West Roxbury and parishioner of Holy Name Parish, died at home on Thursday, October 13, 2010. She was 93. Thelma was born in Malden, Massachusetts, the last surviving sibling of seven children of the late Wendell Phillip and Gunhilda (Miller) Abele. She attended Malden High School and retired in 1981 from John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company in Boston. Thelma was the wife of the late Martin F “Frank” Hardiman and loving mother of Paul F Hardiman of Westwood. She is survived by her son and her beloved daughter-in-law Marilyn V. (Clarke) Hardiman, mother of Thelma’s three grandchildren, Paul F Hardiman Jr. of Medfield, Amy M Lyons of Westwood, and Brian C Hardiman of Medfield. Thelma was also a loving great grandmother who was blessed with eight great grandchildren, Paul F. III, Marie, and Ava Hardiman, Courtney and Thomas Lyons, Molly, Charles, and William Hardiman. Thelma’s extended family included nephews Kerry Abele, Billerica, Mark Abele, San Francisco, Jeff Witol (deceased), and nieces, Martha (Abele) Meharg. N. Reading, Gloria (Abele) Beaudry, Newbury, NH. She is also survived by her loving friend and caregiver Ellen O’Neill.
Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury on Wednesday, October 20th. at 9am. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre St., West Roxbury, at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Internment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
