Obituary

Whitman – G. Miriam “Mimi” Torrey 89, a resident of Whitman for more than 70 years died Wednesday October 13 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of 43 years to the late Earle D. Torrey.

Born and raised in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Beary) Olson, and a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1938.

Miriam had worked for 10 years as a waitress at the former Red Coach Grille of Middleboro. Later as an employee of the Foxboro Company, the company had sent her to attended classes at South Shore Voc. Tech for electronics.

She was a long time bowler in local leagues, and enjoyed many evenings out dancing with her husband Earle. However her greatest joy came from the time with her many friends and her large family.

As a faithful servant to Jehovah, she had volunteered to minister to people interested in God.

She is survived by her loving children Ray Jackson of TN, Ronald Jackson of NY, Robert Koster of NY, Karyl Adams and her husband Daniel of Whitman, Lenette Russo and her husband Steven of East Bridgewater, Miriam Cicione and her husband Richard of FL, and Susie Bradwin of NH., her sisters Lois Clergy of Whitman, Mary Menendez of Stoughton, Laverne Hill of E. Bridgewater, and Barbara Grenon of FL. She is also survived by 23 Grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Richard Jackson, mother-in-law of the late Scott Bradwin, and sister of the late Evelyn Alger and Francis, Robert and Raymond Olson.

Her funeral service will be held Monday October 18 at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Sunday October 17 from 2 – 6 PM. Donations in her name may be made to Old Colony Hospice One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
