Gordon K. “Bumpy” Eaton, 85, passed away in Salem Hospital on Oct. 13, 2010. Bumpy was a retired Deputy Chief for the Beverly Fire Department.
Born on Nov. 13, 1924 in Danvers, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Estella (Bullerwell) Eaton. He was raised and educated in Danvers. Mr. Eaton served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Corpsman with the Marines in the Pacific Theater and in China. He also owned the former Our Market in North Beverly before becoming a firefighter. Bumpy was a member of the ICC, the Union Club and Vittori-Rocci Post in Beverly and PRLACC in Danvers and the American Legion in Hamilton.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Debra and Patrick McCarran of Beverly, two grandsons, Sean and Steven McCarran of Beverly, his siblings David Eaton of Burlington and Marilyn Frans of TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by siblings, Barbara Thompson and Patricia Alexander and his former wife Julia (Fernandes) Eaton.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sat. Oct. 16, 2010 at 10:30AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Vst. Hrs will be held prior to the service 9:30-10:15AM.
