Myrtle Beach, SC – Lawrence J. Olds, Sr., 82, of Longs, SC formerly of Worcester died on Monday, October 11th in the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after an illness.
He is predeceased by his wife Katherine (Willett) Olds who died in 1988. He is survived by two sons Lawrence J. Olds Jr. of Worcester and Brian M. Olds of Webster; five daughters Katherine Eileen Tardiff and her husband Brian of Auburn, Pamela A. Mills of Spencer, Robin T. Olds, Cynthia J. Rivera and her husband Nelson and Colleen F. Olds all of Longs, SC; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Mr. Olds was born in Webster, MA son of the late Charles Olds Sr. and Permelia (LaBlanc) Olds and is predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
He is a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army and worked as an oil burner technician for the Timkin Company and later retired from Peterson Oil Company.
Larry was a member of the Main South American Legion Post #341 in Worcester and was an avid golfer. He was an enthusiastic football fan who enjoyed watching and following the New York sports teams.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, October 16 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a Mass at 10 AM in Saint Peter’s Church 931 Main Street Worcester, MA. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 before the funeral at the funeral home.
