Hudson, MA
Arthur P. Zina, 84, life long resident of Hudson, died Monday, Oct. 11th at the Blaire House in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn J. (Forance) Zina of Hudson.
Arthur was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Jose and Maria (Do Carmo) Zina. He attended local schools and was a 1944 graduate of Hudson High School. Arthur was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic- Pacific area. He was employed by Lapointe’s Machine Shop in Hudson as a foreman and machinist and later became part owner and operator of the former Hudson Broach Company, which is again operating as Lapointe’s Machine Shop in Hudson until he retired. He was a member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks, Hudson Amvets and member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson. Arthur devoted his time in the development of the Hudson Youth Baseball Program and also coached in the program. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Arthur P. Zina Jr. and his wife Janice of Winchester, David “Rocky” Zina and his wife Nancy of Hudson and Diane Durand and her husband Gary of Hudson. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Zina in 1973. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Zina of Hudson; six grandchildren, Kristin Gaynor of Bolton, Kevin Zina of Clinton, Kerri Nash of Bolton, Cole Durand of Hudson, Robert Zina and Liam Zina, both of Hudson; his four great grandchildren, Will and Keaton Gaynor, Connor Zina and Ivy Nash and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Zina of Rhode Island and Paul Barretto of Florida.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 15th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14thfrom 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Arthur may be made to: The Hudson Food Pantry or Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
