Carolyne (Cally) Perry Evers, 69 of 82 Irving Street, died suddenly on Saturday night, October 9, 2010, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.
Born on February 9, 1941, and growing up in Winthrop, Mass., Cally was the daughter of the late Robert and Edythe Perry. A graduate of Smith College, she earned her M.A. in Teaching at Wesleyan University and her M.B.A. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After teaching in Kenya for two years, she moved in 1969 to Mystic and enjoyed teaching students as a lab instructor in chemistry at UConn-Avery Point for over 20 years.
Cally was involved in a number of community activities. A member of the Groton Scholarship Association, Mystic Garden Club, and Mystic River Historical Society, she was deeply committed to programs at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Mystic. She especially loved the annual Christmas bazaars, when she baked goodies for and served at the gourmet table.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Evers is survived by her husband, Tim, her son Tod, her daughter Katy Chiapperini and her husband Rob and their son Milo. Cally was predecased by a brother, Robert Perry, and two children, T.E. Evers and Robin Sawyer Evers.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 5-7pm. Her funeral service will be conducted at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Saturday at 11am.
