Obituary

LEICESTER: Sophia M. “Jackie” (Smeagle) Antanavica 90, of 325 Auburn St. in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Sunday, October 10 at home.

She was the wife of Julian T. ”Ted” Antanavica who died in 1999. She leaves four sons Richard Antanavica and his wife Deborah of Cherry Valley with whom she lived, Theodore Antanavica and his wife Judith, Kenneth Antanavica and his wife Mary, and Brian Antanavica and his wife Lisa all of Leicester, two daughters Sandra Johns of Spring Hill, Fl., and Beverly Hiltner of Parsonsburg, Md., a brother William Smeagle of Westborough, many grand and great grandchildren and a great great grandchild, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers Rex and Walter and sisters Bernice Krasinskas and Estelle Oleski and a grandson Richard Johns.

Born in Palmer, she was the daughter of William and Anna (Kowalczyk) Smeagle. Jackie was co-owner of the former Sunrise Beverage Co. in Worcester and was a homemaker for many years. During her retirement, she resided in the warm sunshine of Florida which she enjoyed for 16 years.

She enjoyed going to horse and dog tracks with her late husband “Ted” and was a very kind and caring woman who had a fond love of animals. She also had a knack for finding four-leaf clovers. She will be greatly missed.
