Frederick "Fred" E. Teague, Sr., 84, of Sandown, NH died Monday, October 11, 2010 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, NH. He was born April 30, 1926 in Derry, NH, son of the late Frank E. and Maggie P. (Staples) Teague. Mr. Teague was a US Navy veteran, serving during WWII. He was a very talented Finish Carpenter, retiring in 1991. Mr. Teague was a Life Member of the American Legion, Carl G. Davis Post #34 of Plaistow, NH and was a Past Commander of the Post. He had served as Past Commander of District #4, Past Department Vice Commander of NH 40/8 Association of the American Legion Locale 70 Rockingham County. Mr. Teague was also Past Grand Chef de Gare of NH and President of the NH Veterans Home resident's council. He was a former member of the Plaistow Fire Department and Association and a member of the Rockingham County Forest Fire Warden Association. Mr. Teague served as a Cub Master of the Boy Scouts. He loved all his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.
He is survived by his son, Frederick E. Teague Jr. and his wife Patricia of Sandown, NH, his daughter, Louise P. Coppinger and her husband Tom of Middle River, MD, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith R. Teague in 2004, two brothers, Lynne E. and Frank E. Teague, and two sisters, Hilda Lemieux and Esther Charlestown.
Calling hours were held Wednesday, October 13th from 4pm-8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. Funeral services were held Thursday at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors followed in the Plaistow Cemetery, Plaistow. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be directed to the NH Veteran's Home Memorial Fund, 139 Winter St., Tilton, NH 03276 or to the American Legion Post #34 Nurses Scholarship Fund, 176 Main St., Plaistow, NH 03865.
