Ida Nell Henderson Tucker, 90, of Ocilla died Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the Irwin County Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Brushy Creek Cemetery with Rev. Scott Brenton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8, Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Tucker was born February 25, 1920 in Irwin County to the late Gene and Mae Paulk Henderson. She lived in Irwin County most of her life, graduating from Irwin County High School. Mrs. Tucker’s husband was a manager for Rhode’s Furniture Company. They lived in Albany, Atlanta, Anniston, AL and Columbia, SC. She was a homemaker and an LPN, receiving her LPN training from the Old Ocilla Hospital. She was an active member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by a daughter: Susan Tucker Franklin and husband, Jack of Scottsboro, AL; grandchildren: Tricia (Jason) Venerable of Skyline, AL, Carsonette (Robert) Baxter of Scottsboro, AL and Tabetha (Scottie) Rice of Athens, AL; 6 great grandchildren; sister: Kathleen Floyd of Dublin as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom S. Tucker and 3 sisters.
