GEORGETOWN: Kent R. White, 75, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport following an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Arlene (Purcell) White who died in 2005.
Born in Haverhill on November 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Earl H. and Dorothy (Bailey) White. Kent attended Hampstead public schools. He had resided in Strafford, NH for several years before moving to Georgetown two years ago.
Kent was a self-employed carpenter for many years until his retirement. He had also once worked at the Western Electric for several years. He enjoyed antiques, building furniture and collecting and repairing clocks. He especially loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy L. White of Concord, NH, Kim and Roger Edholm of East Dorset, VT, Caroline E. White of Dover, NH and Jennifer S. White of S. Portland, ME; a son and daughter-in-law, Kent R., Jr. and Barbara White of West Newbury; six grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda, Abbie, Taylor, Brendon and Colin; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl H., Jr. and Lesley White of Hampstead, NH; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan D. and Robert Cemate of Westwood and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother, Robert B. White.
His funeral services will be held on Friday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9 – 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Nursing Education, c/o Anna Jaques Community Health Foundation, 25 Highland Ave., Newburyport, MA 01950. Interment will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead.
