Obituary

Francis Joseph O’Loughlin, 82, of Falmouth, ME, died Tuesday, October 05, 2010 after a long illness.
Frank was born to the late Terence Joseph and Vera (McOsker) O’Loughlin, May 17, 1928, in Lowell, MA, graduated from Keith Academy and Bentley College. In 1958, he married Carole Stewart and together they lovingly raised 3 children.
Frank’s passion for travel and world history began shortly after high school when he joined the Army and was stationed in Europe during the Korean War. He began his 31 year Finance career with Raytheon Co. in Lowell, MA, eventually taking an assignment in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he and his family lived for 11 years, often taking long trips to many corners of the world. Upon the family’s return to the US, Frank continued to play golf in Florida and at their homes in Maine and North Carolina. He saw his dream come true when the Red Sox won the World Series.
He is survived by his wife, Carole of Falmouth, ME, three children: Terence O’Loughlin, MD of Atlanta, GA; Susan O’Loughlin and partner Joy Close of Durham, NC; and Lisa O’Loughlin of Portland, ME, and 2 grandchildren: Emma and Kathryn O’Loughlin. He is also survived by his sisters Eileen Barnett of Jupiter, FL; Mary Palmer of Exeter, NH; Barbara Winward of Chelmsford, MA; and Jane and her husband Walter “Pat” Riley. He was preceded in death by his sister Joan Pelczar, and brothers-in-law: Thomas Palmer; George Barnett; John Winward; and Stanley Pelczar.
O’LOUGHLIN-Relatives and friends may call on Friday, October 8 from 4 until 7 pm at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH STREET (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 9 at 9:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church (Lower Church) followed by burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell.
