John F. Palma, 60, of Mansfield formerly of Foxboro and North Quincy passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday October 4, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Linda B. (MacDougal) Palma, to whom he was wed on October 13, 1972.
Born in Quincy, MA on May 12, 1950, he was a loving son of Virginia (Littlewood) Palma of Quincy and the late Joseph Palma.
John grew up in North Quincy, was educated in Quincy public schools and was a 1968 graduate of North Quincy High School. He later received his Associates Degree in Engineering from Northeastern University.
For the past year, Mr. Palma was employed as a mechanic for the Panera Fresh Dough Facility in Franklin, where he specialized in the repair and maintenance of machinery and facilities. He had previously worked at Foxboro Tool Repair.
John was an avid fisherman and a talented skilled craftsman. He was a passionate New England sports fan who loved spending time in the presence of his adoring family, especially with the grandchildren.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 22 years, John enjoyed listening to music, classic rock being one of his favorites.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his devoted children Daniel J. Palma and his wife Melanie of Framingham and Laura K. Palma of Jersey City, New Jersey. The dear brother of Sheila M. Palma of Weymouth, he is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Darren Palma, Paige Palma and Sydney Palma all of Framingham. John is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday October 9th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 8th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, John’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
