Marcus Turner, 78, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Sunday, October 3, 2010, at the Life Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM Tuesday, October 5, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Turner was born June 1, 1932 in Irwin County to the late Allison Joseph and Alice Jane Hogan Turner. He lived in Irwin and Ben Hill counties most of his life. Mr. Turner served in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He was a retired conductor and Trainman for the Railroad. Mr. Turner was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife: Jorene Wilson Turner of Fitzgerald; daughters and son-in-law: Nancy Lynn & Harry Warren of Statham and Marie Sumner of Fitzgerald; son: Carl E. Snowden, Jr. of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Delanna Snowden, Christina Cain and Paige Warren; great grandchildren: Matthew Cain and Caitlin Snowden; sister: Ruth McNabb of Tampa, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Snowden, son Nolan Snowden and numerous brothers and sisters.
