WORCESTER-Sherman Napier, Jr., 61, of Worcester died Saturday, October 2nd in Saint Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 35 years, Kathleen (Kings) Napier; two sons, Michael S. Napier and Keith L. Napier both of Worcester; a daughter, Jacquetta A. Harrell of Norfolk, VA; a brother, Michael Napier; a sister, Sandra Jones both of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Michael, Tavius and Dezirae Napier; a beloved cousin, Flora Fort-Miller of Worcester and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters, Joyce Cooper and Doris Baker.
Mr. Napier was born in Cincinnati, OH the son of Sherman Napier, Sr. and Gloria (Newell) Napier. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant. Sherman worked for the U. S. Postal Service as a mechanic for over ten years, retiring in 1996. He was an avid sports fan and loved the hometown teams. Sherman was also a talented singer with different groups from New England. The family would like to thank the Critical Care Unit at Saint Vincent Hospital for the wonderful care and support that was provided to them and to Sherman.
The funeral is Thursday, October 7th in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 AM. Calling hours are Wednesday, October 6th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
