Obituary

Edward P. “Buddy” Winn, 80 years old, husband of the late Norma M. (Ducharme) Winn who died in 2003, died Friday evening in Lowell.
Born in Lowell on July 12, 1930, he was a son of the late Edward J. and Grace M. (Delahanty) Winn and attended St. Patrick’s Boys School and Lowell High School. He moved to Hudson, NH in 1954 and after his retirement in 1992, moved to Beverly Hills, Florida and returned to the area in 2003 living in Ayer, MA.
During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Winn served in the United States Army and in 1952 he completed the Leaders Course at Fort Dix in New Jersey for the Commanding General. Mr. Winn held a Class 1 fireman’s license and for over 20 years was employed by the Lowell Housing Authority as a pipefitter. While residing in Florida, Mr. Winn was a member of the Irish American Club in Beverly Hills. He enjoyed music and loved spending fun time with his family, singing, dancing and just being the life of the party always enjoying a laugh with all.
He is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Kellie Porter and her husband Larry of Ayer, MA and Pamela Desmarais and her husband Mark of East Sandwich, MA; seven grandchildren, Mathew Desmarais and his wife Mandy, Megan Benvenuto and her husband Eric, Jeffrey, Kaitlyn and Kevin Desmarais all of Cape Cod, Larry Porter IV of Dracut and Jennie and her husband Joel Bissell of Groton; four great grandchildren Adam, Mark, Emma and Averie; five sisters, Dorothy Campbell, Gloria Desmond, Joan Kouble, Joyce Molloy and her husband James, all of Lowell and Deborah and her husband John Taylor of Pelham, NH and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
WINN- Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, October 5 from 4 until 8 pm at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH ST, (Rte.38). His Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 6, at St. Patrick’s Church at 10:00 am followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Should friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, LOWELL, MA.
