Betty Ruth Lavell Tellor, age 78, died on Friday, at 1:40 am, October 1, 2010 at Snyder Village.
Born March 7, 1932 in East St. Louis, IL, to Harry and Ruth (Savitz) Lavell. She attended public school in Murphysboro, IL and Brown Business College in Peoria. On April 28, 1951, she married Carl Lewis Tellor. He passed away March 14, 2004.
Betty lived in Murphysboro, Boston, Germantown Hills and Metamora. She was a homemaker, executive secretary, and community volunteer.
Betty was a member of the Metamora Christian Union Church and Christ Church of Germantown Hills. She was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Metamora Women’s Club, Alzheimer’s Association, Isaac Walton League, SHIP, and Proctor Hospital Service Auxiliary.
Surviving Betty are one son, Michael (Vickie) Tellor of Metamora, and two daughters, Shari (Randy) Weber of Metamora and Carla (Christopher) Grundy of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, Chris (Stacy) Tellor, Katie (Shawn) Snider, Shon (Andrea) Westart, Jennifer Coffman, Joshua (Michelle) Weber, Amber (John Jr.) Telford, Ross Grundy, Liam Grundy and Gabriel Grundy; and eight great-grandchildren, as well as thirteen nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan Weber, one brother and one sister.
Services will be at 10:30 am Monday, October 4, 2010 at Metamora Christian Union Church, the Rev. Gary Salm and the Rev. Charles Buegel will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel and one hour before services at the church. Burial will be at 1 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Alto Pass Cemetery in Alto Pass, IL. The Rev. Dr. Christopher Grundy will officiate.
