Obituary

Costas "Gus" Koukos, 87, of Manchester died October 1, 2010 at the Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Manchester on October 16, 1922, the son of Soterios and Penelope (Kontogeorge) Koukos.
During WWII, he served four years in the US Army and was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He served in the medi-corps and earned the Victory and Good Conduct medals.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the Union Leader and Securitas Security Company. Previously, he had been employed by CD Boiler, Inc., Sanco, and Walren.
Gus enjoyed spending time outdoors and along with his wife was a longtime member of the Derryfield Country Club. He was an avid bowler and belonged to the local church bowling league. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, belonged to the NOA Club and was a board member of the AHEPA Society. He was also a member of the American Legion.
He had wintered in Florida with his wife for many years and above all else, cherished the time he spent with his family.
Family members include his wife of over 59 years, Mary (Dakoulas) Koukos of Manchester; two sisters, Olga (Koukos) Bandidos and Katherine "Kitty" (Koukos) Bravakis, both of Ft. Pierce, FL; his loving nephews and nieces including Richard Lindh, Chris Veziris, John Nacos, Marina Todd, Linda Lee, Linda Johnson, Cynthia Sheehan, Roberta Dakoulas, and Debbie (Nacos) Bissonnette; his special Godchildren, Katherine "Kitty" George, Debbie Lindh Boisvert, John "Chick" George, Catherine (Dakoulas) Cowette, Christina (Dakoulas) Battistelli, Nikki (Lambrou) Burdick, Anthony Lambrou and Sue (Pontelli) Dakoulas; he also leaves behind Fanny Lee Dionne who was very special to him.
He was predeceased by his parents and family members, Spiro "Spike" Koukos, Telemacuhus Koukos and Anne Veziris.
The funeral service was held Monday, October 4, 2010 in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St, with the Rev. Fr. Andrew Mahalares officiating. Burial with military honors followed in Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice or to St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St, Manchester, NH 03104.
