Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Jon Earl “Jonny” Amero, 68, died peacefully on Monday, September 27, 2010 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Joanne L. (Rose) Amero.
Born in Gloucester on March 20, 1942, he was the son of the late Eugene D. “Earl” and Margaret (Miller) Amero. Since the age of 17, he worked as a machinist in the City of Gloucester.
He was an avid sportsman. Some of his favorite memories include hunting and fishing. Jon was a very strong, yet sentimental, man who had a very quick wit. Last year, Jon and his wife, Joanne, celebrated a beautiful 50th wedding anniversary.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Barry G. Amero and his wife, Kim (Ilges) of Rockport, Jeffrey S. Amero and his wife, Lila (Balbo) of Magnolia, Kim M. Quintal and her husband, Gary of Peabody and Cindy L. Glazier and her husband, Bruce of Gloucester; three brothers, Stan “Sandy” Amero and his wife, Lucia of Gloucester, Earl “Rusty” Amero of New Hampshire, and Mark Amero and his wife, Lisa of Gloucester. He was the loving grandfather of Misty L. Amero, Tasha L. Mitton, Cody R. Serino, Patina R. Welch, Tiffany A. Amero, Bruce R. Glazier, Jr., Ashley M. Amero, Jeffrey J. Amero, Barry G. Amero, Jr., Kevin J. Qunital, Kristen R. Quintal, who is in Heaven with her Grampy, Natasha R. Quintal and Shawn J. Quintal. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery. Please omit flowers. (Mrs. Amero is highly allergic) Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
