Paul L. "Ollie" Oliveira, a 30-year resident of Wakefield, died suddenly on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine. He was 67 years old.
Paul was born in Somerville on January 10, 1943 to the late Manuel S. and Thelma (Perry) Oliveira. He grew up in Somerville where he attended Somerville Public Schools and Somerville High School. He enlisted into the United States Air Force on February 1, 1962 and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on February 25, 1966 with the rank of Airman Second Class. Paul has worked as a mechanic for many years and owned Paul's Auto Repair on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge several years ago. He also worked as a mechanic for the City of Medford and as a mechanic and in the Maintenance Department for the Watertown School Department. He retired in 2008. Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of The National Rifle Association and The Riverside Gun Club in Hudson, MA. Most of all, Paul enjoyed his time with his family.
Paul is the beloved husband of 29 years to Marie G. (Guarnieri) Oliveira who were married on September 26,1981. He is the devoted father of Heidi M. Barry and her husband Patrick of Belmont and Paul R. Oliveira and his wife Ellen of Ashburnham. He is the loving Opa to Dacodah J. Oliveira. He is the beloved brother of Robert Oliveira of Tewksbury, Ronald Oliveira of Wilmington, Denise Chrisemer of Raymond, NH, and the late Carol Brothers, Bette-Lou Gayne and Dennis Oliveira. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Paul's Funeral on Friday, October 1, 2010, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose line, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, September 30, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m.
