Clyde D. “Sparky” Watts, Jr., 58, of Methuen passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2010, having lived life to the fullest in spite of having prostate cancer for the past eight years.
Sparky was born and raised in Derry, NH, and graduated from Pinkerton Academy. He was proud to be an employee of Charles River Laboratories in Wilmington, MA for 38 years, and was a member of the Forest Street Union Church in Methuen.
Sparky was skilled in a number of arts and crafts. He was an expert cake decorator, loved painting, jewelry making, and a host of other hobbies. One of his greatest joys was making beautiful cakes or other items and sharing them with family and friends.
He is survived by his husband, Stephen Steiner, daughter Melissa Ryan and her husband Christopher of Lawrence, MA, son Michael Watts and his wife Christina of Manchester, NH, as well as the brightest lights in his life, granddaughters Michaela and Jacelyn Ryan, and Emma and Sophia Watts. He is also survived by sisters Roxy Faulkner of Methuen and Beverly Nadeau of Nashua, brother James Watts of Greenfield, NH, his dearest friend of many years, Marie Boda of Methuen, beloved dogs Heidi and Buddy, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends and co-workers.
Sparky was the kindest, funniest, gentlest soul who will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28th and 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the Forest Street Union Church, Methuen at 11am. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Derry, NH. Donations in Clyde’s memory may be made to the Forest Street Union Church, 15 Forest St., Methuen, MA 01844, to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg 9, Lawrence, MA 01843 or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
