Thomas Francis “Frank” Nestor, age 80, a long-time resident of Weymouth, died peacefully Sept. 25, 2010 after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born, raised and educated in Quincy, he was a 1949 graduate of North Quincy High School and attended Boston University. A U.S. Army Korean War veteran, Mr. Nestor served as a Sgt. in the 223rd Combat Infantry. Frank was employed with the Quincy Police Department for ten years before leaving as a Sgt. to begin a 30-year career as the Supervisor of Attendance for the Quincy School Dept. A lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth Landing, Frank was also a longtime member of the Quincy City Club and the Koch Club. For many years he was the dedicated organizer of the City of Quincy Flag Day celebration. Frank was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Costello), and the loving father of Anna Margaret Dee and her husband Patrick, Laura Frances Collins and her husband Matthew, all of Weymouth. He was also the dear brother of the late Anne Marie Birmingham, Patricia, John, Paul and George Nestor, and the devoted grandfather of Nicholas Dee, Matthew and Maia Collins. Many nieces and nephews also lovingly survive him. His funeral will be held from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St., Weymouth, on Wednesday Sept. 29th at 8:30AM. Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth, at 9:30AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM. Interment Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
