Mr. Hilmer J. Westergaard, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, September 23, 2010, Mr. Hilmer J. “Wes” Westergaard, Jr., 62, husband of Dale Verret.
Mr. Westergaard was a native of New Orleans and resided in Augusta, GA for the past five years. Mr. Westergaard was a member of the John McDonogh Senior High School Class of 1965 and held a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern University in New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years and was employed by Tidewater Marine Service Co. in New Orleans for fourteen years. For the past thirteen years he has worked in West Africa as a Preventive Maintenance Coordinator for Exxon Mobile through various service contractors, most recently Wood Group.
Family members in addition to his wife include his daughter: Amanda Verret-Rasch; grandchildren: Blaine Verret, Logan Verret, and Virginia Rasch; sister: Joycelyn Haberling; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held in New Orleans on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Celebration Church, 2701 Transcontinental Dr., Matairie, LA 70006. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, 143 City Park Ave.
Memorials may be made in the name of Hilmer Westergaard, Jr. to the American Cancer Society.
