WAYLAND: Irene P. (Malicki) Keary, 89, died peacefully in the comfort of her family on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 at her residence on Wayland following a period of declining health.
She was born in New York City, NY on June 27, 1921 the daughter of the late George Malicki and Antonia (Pavalska) Malicki.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, William V. Keary of Wayland. She was the beloved mother of R. Gregg Keary and his wife Karen of Bedford, NH; Bruce V. Keary and his wife Mary of Boston; Jane K. Connor and her husband John of Holliston and Christopher B. Keary and his wife Marluce of North Grafton. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Keary has been a resident of Wayland for over 25 years and previously lived in Portsmouth, RI. for over 33 years. She spent her formative years in New York City, New York and received her BA in English from Hunter College in New York. For many years she was associated with the Wayland School Department as a substitute teacher. She was completely devoted to her family and enjoyed the time spent with them traveling and cruising on their sailboat.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home. 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27) Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Keary family lot in North Cemetery in Wayland.
