Obituary

SALEM - Marian L. Taylor, 93, of Salem, passed away on September 16, 2010 surrounded by her “adopted” family, Robert and Judy St. Pierre and their children and her Pastor, Rev. Karen Peters of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, Marblehead.

She was the daughter of the late J. Harold and Ethel (Cochrane) Taylor and was born on September 22, 1916 in Somerville. The family moved to Salem in 1921, following the death of her father. She attended Salem schools and was a graduate of Salem High School in 1934 and the Salem Commercial School in 1936.

Miss Taylor worked at the North Shore Children’s Hospital for 39 years and retired in 1978 as Director of Medical Records. She began her career as a secretary at the former North Shore Babies Hospital, located on Dearborn Street.

She was a member for over 50 years of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Salem, where she served as the church secretary for many years. She transferred her membership to the St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in 1995.

In addition to the St. Pierre family, of Salem, Miss Taylor is survived by several cousins and many dear friends including Barbara Hemeon of Essex.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 11 am at the family lot in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. There are no visiting hours.
