Obituary

DIGHTON - Evangeline “Vangie” (Perry) Fredette, 91, a lifelong Dighton resident, died on September 16, 2010, after a period of failing health.
She was the wife of the late Amos Fredette.
Born in Dighton, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary (Mello) Perry.
She was educated in Dighton schools, and later graduated from the Helen Gillis School of Nursing.
Working as a private LPN in Boston for many years, she was later employed by the former Independent Nail Co. of Bridgewater, and subsequently retired from Texas Instruments in 1982.
Mrs. Fredette was the past president of the former Portuguese American Civic League, Women’s Auxiliary, and was a Dighton Council on Aging Volunteer.
A communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church, she will be fondly remembered for her love of life, learning, and reading; and for her artistic flair and candor.
She leaves two sisters, Deolinda Silvia of Dighton and New Mexico, Alice Souza of Dighton, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late John, Mary “Gloria” and Eugene Perry.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday Sept. 20th at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, N. Dighton at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Sept. 19th from 4 to 7 p.m.
