TAUNTON – Carlos A. Fernandes, husband of Maria E. (Fagundes) Fernandes, died at his Taunton home on September 13, 2010.
He was 59.
Born in Terceira, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio and Dulce (DaRocha) Fernandes.
Educated in the Azores, he was employed as Chief of Finances in Terceira, Azores, before moving to this area in 1987.
Mr. Fernandes was employed by Swank Inc. in Taunton as a polisher, later working for the Robbins Co. in Attleboro.
He retired in 2005.
He was an avid soccer fan, and enjoyed vegetable gardening and cooking.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he leaves a son, Ricardo M. Fernandes of Taunton; three daughters, Carla P. Ferro of Assonet, Sonia C. Sabino of FL, Tanya F. Fernandes of Taunton; six brothers, Jose G. Fernandes of CA, Armando Fernandes of Lowell, Victor, Duarte and Fernando Fernandes, all of the Azores; two sisters, Mafalda Texeira and Fernanda Fernandes, both of the Azores; four grandchildren, Alex and Luke Sabino, and Isabella and Victoria Fernandes; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Paulo Fernandes.
His funeral will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Saturday, Sept. 18th at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 17th from 5 to 8 p.m.
