Selma L. (Anderson) Michelson Wainio, 97, died Saturday September 11, at
the Highlands Long Term Care Center.
Selma was born in Fitzwilliam, N.H. May 7, 1913, the daughter of William
and Suzanna (Lantinen) Anderson. She has lived most of her life in the
Fitchburg area.
Selma loved her family, especially the children. Her home was always open
to every family member and she loved to cook for them. Her home was
filled with photos of happy occasions. She and her late husband Toivo
spent many summers at their camp in Fitzwilliam, N.H. at Sip pond.
Selma was famous for her Finnish coffeebread that she made in large
quantities to share with others. She loved yard sales and also had many of
her own.
Selma worked in several area factories including Doehla Greeting Cards,
White's Mills, Celluplastics, Rene Press and General Fiber.
Selma leaves her son and daughter-in-law Frank and Joan Michelson of
Fitchburg, Her daughters and sons-in-law Dorothy and Richard Moore of
Westminster, Sylvia and Edward Baker of Palmyra, Maine and her
daughter-in-law Beverly Michelson of Westminster. She also leaves seven
grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and twelve great great
grandchildren.
Selma was predeceased by her first husband Walter Michelson in 1940,
her second husband of 25 years Toivo Wainio December 3, 1990, her son
Kenneth W. Michelson in 1996, five brothers and four sisters and two
grandchildren.
Selma's family wishes to extend their most heartfelt appreciation and
gratitude to Dr. Bruun and Dr. Wilson and their staff and all the care givers
at the Highlands for their loving support and compassion and Hospice for
their guidance. Also Montachusett Home Care who provided much help and Respit time for the family.
The funeral service for Selma will be held on Thursday September 16, at
11:00 A.M. in the Bosk Funeral Home 85 Blossom St. Burial will be in
Woodside Cemetery in Westminster. A calling hour will be from 10 to 11
A.M.
