Obituary

Worcester- William Karas, 98, of 51 Barclay St., died Thursday, Nov. 27, in Hammond House.

His wife, Margaret (Kardokas) Karas, died in 1980. He leaves a son, Albert F. Karas of Worcester; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. His daughter, Mildred Lapinskas, died in 1991. He was born in Duryea, Pennsylvania, son of George and Mikalina (Rudnickas) Karas, and lived here most of his life.

Mr. Karas was a millwright and group leader at U.S. Steel Co. for more than 39 years, retiring in 1971.

He was a member of St. Casimir Parish and its’ Mens Club, the Lithuanian Charitable Society, the Greendale Retired Mens Club, and the Knights of Lithuania, Council 26.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling period will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
