Obituary

John P. Malcouronne, Jr., 37, of New Bedford died Friday November 28, 2003 at home. He was the son of Nancy (Hadcroft) Costello of New Bedford and John P. Malcouronne of Edgartown.

Born in New Bedford, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

John was formerly employed as a security officer at Building 19 in New Bedford. He was also a licensed oil burner technician.

He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years from 1986 to 1989. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.

John was an adoring and wonderful father. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan who loved music and attending concerts.

Survivors include his parents; his stepparents, Linda Malcouronne and Edward Costello; a daughter, Gina Marie Malcouronne of Methuen; 2 sisters, Michelle Duarte of Aquinnah and Veronica Malcouronne of Edgartown; a stepbrother, Sean Smith of London, England; and 2 aunts, Beverly A. Hadcroft of New Bedford and Julie M. Higdon and her husband Dirk of Oak Bluffs.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2003 at 4 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His family will receive visitors prior to the service from 2-4 PM. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery will be private.
