Holbrook – Maria Flora (Ariza) Jara 80, died Friday September 10 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of Joseph Jara.
Born and raised in Costa Rica she was the daughter of the late Eliezer and Maria (Urena) Ariza.
Maria moved to Massachusetts from Costa Rica in 1968 and resided in Chelsea until her move to Holbrook in 1999.
Maria was a devoted wife and mother, with a strong religious faith. She loved her home and enjoyed listening to a variety of music.
In addition to her husband Joseph she is survived by her loving daughters Maria M. Wilde and her husband Russell of Holbrook, and Nuria E. Wellemeyer and her husband Mark of Pembroke, her grandchildren Scott and Jeffrey Wilde, Diana (Wilde) Ferrini, and Jonathan, Jason and James Wellemeyer, her great grandchildren Alexandra Flora, Jake, Ethan and Hanna Wilde, as well as her sisters Aurora, Esilda, Priscilla and Teresa, and her sister-in-law Myra.
Her funeral mass will be held Thursday September 16 at 9 AM in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday September 15 from 7-9 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman.
