LEICESTER-Statia (Efstratiou) Zoulas, 78, of Leicester, died Thursday, September 9th in St. Vincent Hospital. She leaves her husband of 52 years, Steve C. Zoulas; her daughter, Teena D. Lenis and her husband John of Worcester; a brother, Menelaos “Mike” Efstratios and his wife Marlene of West Boylston; two granddaughters, Christina and Catherine Lenis; and many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Straty Efstratiou and Stephen Stratton predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of John and Chrisoula (Stefanou) Efstratiou; and was a graduate of Commerce High School. Mrs. Zoulas had worked for the former Peoples Savings Bank, American Optical and last worked with her husband in the family business, Zoulas’ Valley Discount Liquors. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Seniors Group, was a former member of its choir and a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Statia will be remembered as an incredible cook and baker. She enjoyed old movies, The Walton’s and the Golden Girls; her greatest joy was the time spent with her granddaughters, Christina and Catherine.
Her funeral is Monday, September 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, September 12th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
