Obituary

Golf Course Proprietor
Humphrey Lewis Tallman, Captain U.S.N. (Ret.), 90, loving husband, father and grandfather died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on September 8, 2010.
He was predeceased by his wife and sweetheart of 65 years, Connie (Reed) Tallman.
Captain Tallman answered his nation’s call to duty in 1941 serving as a Navy pilot at the battles of Midway and Santa Cruz where he was awarded the Air Medal and the Navy Cross for his actions.
On retirement after 25 years of military service, he and his cousin Clifton Chase built and operated the Rochester Golf Course.
Over the years, Capt. Tallman was a generous benefactor to his community and many charitable organizations. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Peter of New Hampton, NH, Coralie Hoffman of Fairhaven, NJ, Sara of Plymouth, MA and Stuart of Rochester, MA; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
His funeral arrangements will be private.
