Bennie Gossett, age 88, died on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Veteran's Home in Oxford, MS. Mr. Gossett was born on February 13, 1922 in Lafayette County, MS to the late Dophas Eddie Gossett and Rena Ola Nerren Gossett. Bennie was a Veteran and served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a farmer and worked with the MS Forestry Service. Bennie was a member of Delay Baptist Church in Lafayette County, MS.
The visitation will be held Friday, September 10, 2010 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be held at Delay Baptist Church on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00AM with Bro. Jimmy Sockwell and Bro. Charles Keel officiating. Interment will be at Delay Baptist Church Cemetery with Hunter Gossett, Josh Gossett, Luke Gossett, Greg DePriest, Jeff Michelletti and Thomas Cobb serving as pallbearers.
Bennie is survived by his wife, Wynona Tramel Gossett of Oxford, MS; one daughter, Rena Carol (Kevin) Konegay of Cherokee Village, AR; three sons, Bennie Tramel (Lynette) Gossett of Olive Branch, MS, Barry Glyn (Donna) Gossett of Oxford, MS and Eddie Richard (Tabrina) Gossett of Hillsboro, TX.; two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Janie (Quay) Daniels both of Oxford, MS.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Edree Denton and two brothers, William "Buck" Gossett and Winfred "Short" Gossett.
