Obituary

Phillip J. O’Connor, 80, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on September 6th, 2010. He was born in Dublin, Ireland to his parents William and Bridget (Brady) O’Connor. Phillip was raised and educated in Dublin before moving to Malden in 1959. He has been a resident of Malden for over 50 years. Phil is well known in Malden and the surrounding area as a master carpenter at his own company, Phil O’Connor’s Carpentry. He was also very active in many local organizations including the Irish American Association, the Malden Eagles Club, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Italian American Club, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Elks Lodge, all in Malden. He is survived by his wife; Anne (Murphy) O’Connor; by his children; William J. O’Connor and his wife Trish of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Michael O’Connor and his wife Jean of Weston; by his grandchildren; Killian, Matthew, Meghan, Katherine and Lydia O’Connor; and by his sisters; Maureen Fitzgerald of Bradenton, Florida, Breda Ghan of Dublin, Ireland and Annie Gannon of Dublin, Ireland. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Phillip was predeceased by his sister Lily Corrigan and by his brothers Christy, James and Liam O’Connor. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday September 9th at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday September 8th from 4-8 PM.
