Stillman C. "Steve" Thorburne

...T & R Plastering Co. owner; 84

TEWKSBURY - Stillman C. "Steve" Thorburne, age 84, died Sunday, September 5 at the Wingate of Lowell, after a long period of declining health. He was the husband of Jean M. (Hingston) who died in 1997. He was born March 2, 1926 in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada, the oldest of nine children of the late Lewis and Bertha (Whynot) Thorburne, late of Nova Scotia. He served in the Canadian Army before moving to the United States. He served with the Nova Scotia Highlanders, 3rd Infantry, and was a participant of the D-Day Invasion of Normandy.

He was owner of and plasterer for the T & R Plastering Company of Tewksbury. He was a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge 2070, the DAV Post 110 of Tewksbury, Fr. Coppen's Knights of Columbus, Council 4336, and the Concordia Club of Lawrence.

He is survived by his ten children and their spouses; Jeanne Lane and her close friend Lynn Davis of Salem, NH, Stephen Thorburne of Lowell, Janet Ross and her husband Chick of Milford, NH, Patricia Pineau and her loving finace Armand Langlois of Lawrence, Sherry Morris and her husband Glenn of Woodstock, NH, Richard "Ricky" Thorburne of Tewksbury, Joseph Thorburne of Tewksbury, Geraldine "Dino" Doyle and her husband Shawn of Hudson, NH, Claire Wodzinski and her husband Scott of Littleton, MA, Carol Dunn of Tewksbury and her companion, Tony Pivero of Nashua, NH, twenty six grandchildren including his primary care-giver and granddaughter Shelly Golan, eighteen great grandchildren; his siblings, Sharon Dyer and her husband Jack, Ernest Thorburne and his wife Ruth, Wayne Thorburne and his wife Joy all of Nova Scotia; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the grandfather of the late Jonathan, and Joseph Thorburne; and brother of the late Irma May Thorburne, Dorothy Bernice Scott, Lester St. Clair Thorburne, Charles Ross Thorburne, and Raymond Thorburne.
His Funeral was held Thursday, September 9, in the funeral home. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorial donations to the American Lung Association of MA, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451 will be appreciated.
