Obituary

Mrs. Betty Lou Jackson Joyce, 75, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Saturday, September 4th at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Joyce was born in Surry County on July 12, 1935 to the late Woodrow Jackson and Grady Nunn Jackson. She was a retired homemaker and caregiver and a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy A. Joyce. Mrs. Joyce is survived by one daughter, Julia Joyce Matthews and son-in-law, Timothy C. Matthews of Pilot Mountain, and two sisters, Janie Ashburn of Pilot Mountain, and Cathy Wall and husband Bro. Roy Chester Wall of Pilot Mountain, two nieces, Brenda Ashburn Chapman and husband, Mark Chapman, Renea Wall Shore and husband Erik Shore of Hamptonville, two nephews, Lindsay Ashburn, Jr. and wife Tammy Ashburn of King, Robert Wall and wife Danielle of Pilot Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at Cox-Needham Chapel on Tuesday, September 7, at 2:00 p.m. with the Brother Chester Wall and the Reverend Ron Chamblin officiating with interment to follow at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Joyce will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 6, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2552 Old Highway 52 South, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
