Joe Dixon Allen, 78, Clarksville, died Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Grace Healthcare. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Paul Bunger officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the hour of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born September 11, 1931 in Clarksville, TN son of George Forest Allen, Sr and Frances Dixon Allen. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and George Allen; and three sisters, Frances Carter, Mary Ussery, and Ann Hoots. Mr. Allen was a bird expert and was a writer for the Leaf-Chronicle. He was a member of Olivet Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include a niece, Pat Shaw and two nephews, Felix Hoots, Jr. and David Ussery.
