Obituary

Gregory C. Fingar, 54, of Medway, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Stanley Tippett House in Needham after a 5 ½ year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the beloved husband of Dale J. (MacKenzie) Fingar since 1989.

Born in Needham on March 15, 1956, he was the son of Evelyn (Schrader) Fingar of Needham and the late Dr. Ralph Fingar. Greg was a resident of Medway for the past 14 years and previously resided in Holliston.

He grew up in Needham and graduated from the Needham High School and Boston University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.

Greg was the owner of G.C. Fingar Interiors for many years and was also a residential property manager. He was the director of operations at the Limited and Victoria Secrets during the early 1980’s.

A very proud father, Greg was active in his boys activities including coaching baseball and the Cub Scouts where he had been a Cub Master and Den Leader. He himself attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Greg enjoyed golf and also fishing and camping for many years on Nauset Beach.

His family and friends couldn’t believe how hard he fought right until the end. His motto was, “Never Give Up.”

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons that he was so very proud of, Steven and Michael, both of Medway.

He is also survived by his brother, Jeffrey Fingar and his wife Katherine of Griswold, CT, his mother-in-law, Jean MacKenzie of Upton, his brothers and sisters-in-law, David MacKenzie of Mendon, Donna Bacchiocchi and her husband Tony of Ashland, Daniel MacKenzie and his wife Tina of Natick, Darlene MacKenzie-Schoen and her husband Steven of Upton, Dana Connolly and her husband John of Natick and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was the son-in-law of the late David MacKenzie and brother-in-law of the late Diane MacKenzie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, September 4 at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.

Calling hours will be held at the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway on Friday from 3 – 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Greg’s family request that donations be made in his memory to the Fingar Children Education Fund c/o Middlesex Savings Bank, 81 Main St., Medway, MA 02053.
