EVANS - Marie Evans, 57, passed away Monday, August 30, 2010 at her Fernandina Beach residence. She was born May 23, 1953 in Fernandina Beach, FL and has been a life-long resident of the area. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and worked for the Nassau County School Board for 22 years. She enjoyed her time with the school board and working with children very much. She also worked at Sonny’s and Publix for a while. She was predeceased by her husband, Roger Evans, who passed away in 1999. Survivors include three daughters, Kristen M. Evans of Yulee, Angelia Wilkerson of Folkston, GA and Teri Davis (Gary) of Sanderson, FL; her mother and step father, Clarice and Walter Champion; her father and step mother, James and Betty Lou Hickox of Yulee, FL; a brother, Jimmy Hickox (Eunice) of Fernandina Beach, FL; two sisters, Melba Hickox of Fernandina Beach, FL and Margie Hatton (Jerry) of Yulee, FL; a step brother, Buddy Champion of Fernandina Beach; two step sisters, Susan McCarthy (Brian), also of Fernandina Beach and Belinda Peeples (Robbie) of Jacksonville, FL; her companion Craig Beck of Fernandina Beach; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the family burial estate at Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Green Pine Funeral Home.
