Charles Atwater, Sr., age 95, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at the Baypointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy (Gilliam) Atwater. He was a longtime resident of Wareham before moving to Stoughton. Born in Newport, RI, he was educated in Rhode Island schools. Mr. Atwater was a steelworker and a Life Member of the Elks in Wareham.
He is survived by his son Charles Atwater, Jr. of Avon. Predeceased by his daughter Janet Perkins. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St.(Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, September 1 at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
