Mildred Frances Fallin Jones, 86, of 235 Fagan St., Danville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 27, 2010, after a brief illness.
Born June 12, 1924, in Schoolfield, she was the daughter of the late Addie Pearson Fallin and Frank Lester Fallin.
Mrs. Jones was proud of her roots and always held the Schoolfield area, where she graduated high school, close to her heart. She attended Stratford College and during W.W. II was a cadet training to be an RN Nurse. Just prior to graduating, the war ended and she stopped her training to get married. At the age of 64, she attended Danville Community College, where she earned her LPN license. She was a devout Pentecostal Holiness and even though she had modest means, she spent her life helping others. She loved people without judgement and never saw anything but the good in everyone. She traveled to Africa several times to spread the word of God and was involved in building a children's orphanage there. She also traveled to Puerto Rico, India and along the East Coast of the U.S. spreading God's word. One of her greatest joys in the last few years was being part of the jailhouse ministry, where she helped with services for the ladies' jail annex once a month. She will be greatly missed by the people whose lives she touched and by her family who loved her very much.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Raymond William Jones Jr., and by her daughter, Linda Caywood-Farrell, and by two sisters, Nannie Ruth Fallin and Alma Dean McGuire.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jones White and her husband Richard Lee White, of Danville, Faith Jones Brown and her husband Kenneth Leon Brown, of Reidsville, NC; seven grandchildren, John Henderson and his wife Kim, Angela Jackson and her husband Gene, Richard White Jr. and his wife Brandy, Laura Haley and her husband Dennis, Stephen Jones, Ronald White and his wife Kathy, and Michael White and his wife Angie; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Mike Hearp will be held Monday, August 30, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, August 29, 2010, from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m., and at other times they will be at the residence of her daughter, 413 Jeanette Drive, Danville.
